TOP 5 THINGS TO DO AND SEE AT THE SHOW

Mar 29, 2021

After a year of sheltering at home and either tackling those long overdue home improvement projects or dreaming of new renovations, Triangle consumers can return to the biggest local event dedicated to all things under the roof: the Fairgrounds Raleigh Ideal Home Show. From April 9-11, the NC State Fairgrounds welcomes back the show, filled with aisles of home improvement products and experts.

With so many pent up questions about projects and items on your homes “to do” list, where do you start? Relax. Take a breath, pack a mask and take a look at our streamlined list of must see, not-to-be-missed features at the show:

  1. Food Truck Rally. First things first -- you’ve got to fuel up while you’re taking in the show. New this spring, the show is hosting a local food truck rally with community faves on-site each day of the show and plenty of socially-distanced seating.
  2. Shop, Compare and Save. When you’re investigating a home project or purchase, the amount of info is helpful – but often overwhelming. The show is a one-stop shop where you can talk to local experts at the same time, in the same place to help find which one has the best inventory, schedule, fit and price for you. Past guests unanimously agree this is one of the most invaluable benefits of show attendance.
  3. Hero Day. As a small show of gratitude for everything – but especially going above and beyond during the past pandemic year – Friday, April 9 is designated as Hero Day. Active military personnel, veterans, EMTs, nurses, healthcare workers, firefighters, police and more receive complimentary admission to the show. Spread the word to the heroes (who are also HGTV junkies) you know!
  4. Outdoor Living Ideas. You’ve been cooped up all year, and now the weather is beckoning you outdoors for some vitamin D. At the show, check out outdoor living furniture, kitchen and landscaping vendors to get inspired – and don’t forget to ask about show specials.
  5. Teachers Featured. On Sunday, April 11 the show gives a big virtual hug to area teachers in the form of free admission. All educators with a Valid ID at box office get to enter the show on us.
